One Rider. A solo world record attempt. 2,000 Miles. The Full Perimeter of England.

The Final Chapter of the Yorkshire Beast Trilogy

Yorkshire Beast is a series of ultra-distance endurance cycling challenges created to push the limits of human endurance whilst raising money for charity.

The journey began in 2024 when a team of riders cycled the full perimeter of Yorkshire, covering 460 miles in four days and raising £16,000 for charity. In 2025 the challenge grew, as did the team, with a group ride from Leeds to Nice, covering 1,100 miles in under seven days crossing the French Alps by night and climbing the iconic and brutal Bonette’s Pass at 9,000 feet altitude before descending the final 70 miles to the Mediterranean. Together the team raised £55,000 for Alzheimer’s Society and Candlelighters supporting the families of children with cancer around Yorkshire.

Now in its 3rd year 2026, the final chapter of a trilogy will take place.

With the goal that every mile ridden raises awareness and money for charities, Yorkshire Beast is about endurance, determination, community, and ambition.

The Final Chapter of the Yorkshire Beast Trilogy, and it’s been worth the wait!

This is the final challenge in the Yorkshire Beast endurance trilogy and the biggest yet.

In June 2026, Martin Mansell will attempt to cycle the entire perimeter of England, covering approximately 2,000 miles around the country's coastline and borders in the fastest time possible.

Starting and finishing at the Humber Bridge in East Yorkshire, the route will follow England’s coastline before tracing the Welsh border from the Severn Bridge to Chester and the Scottish border from Carlisle to Berwick-upon-Tweed.

This isn’t just a long ride. It’s a test of endurance, resilience and determination. The challenge will require 16–17 hours in the saddle each day, with only a few hours of sleep, while navigating the demanding terrain of Devon, Cornwall and England’s rugged coastline.

What began three years ago with a ride around Yorkshire now reaches its final chapter, a world-record attempt around the full perimeter of England.

The Route

Starting at the Humber Bridge in East Yorkshire, Martin will set off on a 2,000-mile journey around the full perimeter of England.

The route follows the entire English coastline, before tracing the Welsh border north from the Severn Bridge to Chester, and then continuing along the English-Scottish border from Carlisle to Berwick-upon-Tweed. From there, the route returns south along England’s north east coastline back to Yorkshire.

The challenge includes some of the toughest terrain in the country, particularly through Devon and Cornwall, with long daily distances and minimal recovery time.

The goal is simple but brutal: complete the full perimeter of England in the fastest time possible.
